Frequently asked questions
What this is:
1. What is Pro Players' Business?
✅Pro Players' Business is a private referral network. Founded in 2015 to help former NFL players put the relationships they built during their careers to work, PPB now includes athletes from other sports and high-level connectors outside of sports.
The model is one thing: you make an introduction to someone who already takes your call. The partner company handles the presentation, the follow-up, and the account. Every introduction is covered by a written agreement you sign before you make it.
2. Why was it created?
✅Because our founder made introduction after introduction and watched the deals close without him.
Brad Leggett was connecting former NFL players to the law firm handling the concussion litigation when it became obvious: the introduction is what makes the deal, and the person making it usually has nothing in writing. PPB was built so that never happens to a member. The agreement is signed before you make the call.
3. What do you mean by a referral network?
✅It means the introduction is the whole job.
You identify someone in your network who fits what a partner company is looking for — a business owner, an operator, a decision-maker. You register that contact, then you make the introduction. From there the partner company's team runs the consultation, answers the technical questions, handles onboarding, and manages the account.
You don't learn a product line. You don't build a presentation. You don't close anything and you don't do follow-up. Your relationship is the asset, and it stays yours.
What your role actually is:
4. What's the difference between a referral rep and a sales rep?
✅A sales rep learns a product line, builds a presentation, handles objections, closes the deal, and manages the account afterward.
A referral rep does one thing: identifies the right person in their own network and gets them onto the initial call with the partner company. That's where the job ends. The partner's team takes the consultation, the technical questions, the follow-up, and the account.
No product training. No presentations. No quotas. No cold calls. Getting your contact on that first call is the part only you can do — and it's the part the partner company can't do without you.
5. Can I do cold calls?
✅No. Cold outreach doesn't work in this model and we don't ask for it.
A partner company can buy a list. What they can't buy is a business owner picking up because your name is on the screen. That's the only thing we need from you, so a cold call isn't a smaller version of the job — it's a different job.
Do I qualify?
6. Is it exclusive to former NFL players?
✅Not anymore. PPB spent its first eight years working only with former NFL players. It now includes athletes from other sports and high-level connectors and operators outside of sports.
The requirement never changed: you need real relationships with business owners and decision-makers — people you can call or text directly. Where you built those relationships matters less than whether they take your call.
7. What counts as a personal relationship?
✅Here's the test: can you pick up the phone and text this person right now, and will they answer?
If yes, that's a relationship. If you'd have to introduce yourself first, remind them who you are, or go through somebody else to reach them — that's a lead, and leads don't work here.
A high-level connector is someone with a lot of the first kind. It has nothing to do with how many contacts you have. It's about how many of them take your call.
8. Is there training or certification required?
✅No. There's no course, no certification, no seminar, and no product knowledge to memorize.
Each vertical does run a live overview call — the partner company, what they do, and the specific profile of business owner they're looking for. That's not training. It's twenty minutes so you know who in your phone is a fit, and so you can answer the first question a contact asks you.
Everything past that is the partner company's job.
Is this legitimate?
9. Is this an MLM?
✅No. Pro Players Business is a two-tier affiliate program, not a multi-level one. The difference is structural, and it's not a matter of degree.
In an MLM, you build a downline that goes as deep as you can push it, and the money moves upward every time somebody new signs up beneath you. Recruiting is the product.
That's not what this is. There are two tiers here and that's where it stops — no third level, no fifth level, no infinite depth, no team to build, no volume requirement, no rank to chase. Nobody at Pro Players Business gets paid because a person joined. Compensation is generated one way only: an actual business or medical practice becomes a customer of a vetted partner company. No sale to a real end customer, no commission — for anyone, at either tier.
And there's nothing to buy. No investment, no inventory, no starter package, no monthly fee, no product you're required to purchase to stay active. You are never a customer of Pro Players Business. You make introductions to vetted partner companies under a written agreement, and your compensation terms are defined in that agreement before you introduce anyone.
10. Is there a fee to join?
✅No. Not to join, not to stay, and not at any point after.
PPB doesn't make money from its members. The partner companies pay for access to introductions they couldn't get on their own — that's the entire business model. If a network ever asks you to pay for the privilege of referring business, that tells you where its revenue actually comes from.
11. Is Pro Players' Business affiliated with the NFL or any players organization?
✅No. PPB is independently owned and operated. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Football League, NFL Legends, NFL Alumni, the NFLPA, the NFLRPA, or any other league, team, or players association.
12. Are partner companies vetted?
✅Yes. Before a vertical goes live, we review the entity's registration and corporate documentation, the backgrounds of its leadership, and its financial standing. We check the OIG List of Excluded Individuals and Entities, the federal SAM.gov exclusion database, and the FDA's warning letter and enforcement records.
What protects me?
13. What makes it different?
✅The agreement comes first.
The usual version of this is a handshake. You make the introduction, the deal closes, and there's nothing on paper saying you were part of it. That happened to our founder enough times that he built a company around fixing it.
Here, the terms are signed before you make a single call. You register the contact before you reach out, so there's a record of who brought it. And you can see the status in ProEdge yourself instead of asking someone how it's going.
14. How do I know I won't be cut out of an introduction?
✅Because it's in writing before you make the call, and there's a record of who brought the contact.
You register the contact in ProEdge before you reach out. That timestamps it and protects the contact while you work it. Once you get that contact onto the initial call with the partner company, the relationship is yours for the long term — that's the step that locks it in, and it's the step only you can take.
Your compensation terms are in the independent contractor agreement you sign before any of this starts. Not agreed to verbally, not settled after the deal closes.
How do I start?
15. How do I get started?
✅Fill out the form on the Apply to Join Pro Players Business Network. You'll receive an overview video and the PPB independent contractor agreement to review and e-sign.
Once it's signed, you get access to ProEdge, the schedule of live opportunity calls for each active vertical, and a named point of contact for onboarding.
There's no commitment and no obligation. You can sign the agreement and do nothing with it. There's no quota, no minimum, no deadline, and nobody chasing you. Plenty of members sign, sit on it, and make their first introduction months later when the right conversation happens to come up.
For businesses
16. My company wants to become a PPB partner. How does that work?
✅Start with the contact page. Before that, know the four things that end the conversation early:
We deal directly with owners. Not brokers, not consultants, not someone representing the company. If the principal isn't in the conversation, there's no conversation.
No multi-level marketing. No downlines, no recruiting-based compensation, no programs where the money comes from people joining rather than business getting done.
Nobody pays to participate. PPB members are never charged a fee, a buy-in, or a purchase requirement to work an opportunity. If a partner's model requires that, it's not a fit.
PPB does not invest. We don't put capital into partner companies, buy equity, or pay for placement. We bring introductions. That's the whole arrangement.
Partners that clear those and pass the review get access to a network of former professional athletes and connectors who can open doors their sales team can't buy. Two verticals are live right now. The bar is the reason.
